MYTH ONE: Setting definitive goals with your team means everyone is ready to achieve it.
We incorporate factors not often found in these critical assessments – we look at actual intentions and alignment of the key participants. This makes it inspirational and more likely achievable.
Business challenges are identified and risks/benefits of solving it are established as well as measures of success. Your Key Stakeholders are identified and possibly included.This step frames our work for practical and measurable outcomes. It also determines how we approach the work with each client as our work is customized to current needs. Core Desires are articulated. We look at all the actual intentions of key stakeholders and check on alignment. Once intentions are aligned we look at what is really wanted, the Core Desire. This statement is identified as well as the actual criteria and value of the desire so it can be inspirational and achievable. We then look at the skills/capabilities and will of the team or organization involved to identify strengths and gaps.
This is an alternative to typical goal setting as it ensures that the motives, capabilities, intentions and will of the team/organization are aligned. Typically this is one area a group could typically go into breakdown around ‘direction’ or ‘roles’.
MYTH TWO: Doing personality/style assessments will the “cure all” for my team and produce lasting results.
